Defending Facebook in 8 Arguments

Privacy Concerns are overblown. We are okay with our $20,000 purchase of a car being influenced by an ad targeted on Facebook based on our uniqueness, but we(media/ political parties?) feel moral outrage if we as a voter are exposed to targeted ads which may influence our political choice.As I write this,  Facebook stock is getting battered and many(govt. and regulators) are baying for its blood. However, I believe a defense can be mounted before the people’s court- the 2.2 billion people who are on Facebook.

Is the Internet Shrinking?

The last decade has seen a transformation in the way knowledge is produced and consumed. But who controls the knowledge? From 23,500 websites in the early days of internet (1995), it has grown to over 1.3 billion websites today. We thought the internet will allow free expressions, there will be millions (actually billions :)) of web sites and everyone can have a place under the sun and self-publish, get their words across. We thought it was the end of the gatekeepers. But we see

Should Google be Regulated?

The “do no evil” company changed the slogan “to do the right thing” in October 2015. And they are doing the right thing- if you are a Google Shareholder- you are definitely happy 🙂 . Google dominates the search engine market globally. Recently, Google has been fined a record 2.4 Billion Euros by EU, for what they call, “abusing internet search monopoly”. This blog presents my view on- Did EU get it right? Can Google be called a natural monopoly? What will it take for a competitor like Bing to reach where Google is?
